Porsche 550 - Vintech P550 Tribute
The lesser known, but equally impressive brother of the eye-catching Porsche 550 Spyder is the 550 Coupe, designed by the German automaker primarily for competition in endurance racing events. Overtime, however, the Coupe developed its own following of enthusiasts who loved its clean lines and sporty style, including French designer Vintech who has just released a look at its own Porsche 550 Couple-inspired concept called the Vintech P550 Tribute. Expected to make its international debut at the upcoming Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the Tribute features a custom chassis wrapped in a carbon fiber body that is powered by a 270 horsepower 3.0-liter flat-four engine. Vintech claims the Tribute weighs in at about 550kg, but no other performance data has yet to make its way out, including the structure of its transmission or if this was just a one-off model or the beginning of a long line of cars with dizzying price-tags. via: WorldCarFans - See more at: http://www.freshnessmag.com/2012/08/15/porsche-p550-tribute-by-vintech/#sthash.jfVV9bdw.dpufThe Porsche 550 Coupe, the closed version of the 550 Spyder was primarily created for endurance races and Porsche only made 90 of these.
The Porsche 550 Coupe is the less famous closed version of the 550 Spyder and was primarily created for endurance races.
Porsche only made 90 of these and the slick lines inspired a few French enthusiasts to create a carbon fibre version, the Vintech Tribute.
They did not create a replica, which is good… Instead they created their own interpretation of the P550.
The Vintech is powered by a 3.0-liter flat-four engine with 270 bhp and a five-speed manual transmission.
Weighting just 550kg, less than the original 1953 model, the performance is just enough to make you smile.
At a cost of half million euros each, you better reserve yours just now!
Nevertheless, congratulations to the French Group D3 for being truly guardians of our motoring heritage.
Please see their blog here. They also uploaded a short video so you can see it being driven in Paris.
